Hi bloggy friends and happy Tuesday! Recently I’ve gotten lots of questions about E-Design and what exactly it is, so I thought I’d share an article I just wrote for a magazine publication for our area. If we’re friends on Facebook or Instagram, you know how obsessed I’ve become with the genius and convenience of E-Design. It takes so much of the guesswork out of designing your space, I just love it and I love working with my E-Design clients! The article and some E-Design examples are below, and the Jones Sweet Homes E-Design page is here!
The Jacksonville and Saint Augustine real estate market that is on fire! With new construction going on all around us, we are investing in updating, decorating, and renovating our homes to stay current and relevant. Many homeowners take on renovation and design projects themselves because they believe they cannot afford professional design assistance, and unfortunately this can often lead to mistakes (that cost more money!), poor selections, and uninformed decisions that ultimately do not create the beautiful end result or increased property value that homeowners hope for. It is for this reason that E-Design is rapidly gaining popularity as an easy, fun, and attainable way to get the services of a Interior Designer that guarantees a professional result.
What is E-Design?
E-Design is a way of contracting the services of a professional Interior Designer to create a detailed design plan for your space that is easy to follow and can be implemented at your own pace. All correspondence and communication is done online through questionnaires, e-mails, photos, and measurements. E-Design options typically provide faster solutions, with many design packages being delivered back to homeowner within five to seven days, and are most often a fraction of the typical “in-person” hourly rate of an accredited Interior Designer. What do I get with an E-Design?
E-Design Packages vary by company. It is most common to see a “Full Room Design package” for a set price, and additional “A La Carte” options if you do not need a full room design. Full Room Packages will include a floor plan drawn to scale that can incorporate a combination of new and existing furniture pieces, 3D renderings of what the space will look like when it is complete, a concept board, materials and finishes board, and a shopping list with “clickable” links to purchase products.
A La Carte options often include a floorplan only option, paint selection option, or accessorization options if you just need help styling one – or a few – areas of your home.
How much does it cost?
A full room package can cost anywhere from $200+, a paint selection package $35+, and accessorization packages $50+ per area. When the cost is broken down, E-design is an incredible value! A full room design package takes a minimum of 5-6 hours to compile. If a designer typically charges (a modest) $75/hour, that is automatically a savings of over $200!
Can E-Design help with my renovation?
Absolutely! An experienced Interior Designer should be able to obtain the information needed through sketches/measurements and photos that the homeowner submits to create an accurate renovation design plan. Homeowners will usually have to agree to the terms of the E-design process, which includes taking responsibility for the accuracy of the measurements submitted.
The renovation plans that are created as part of the design package can be treated as concept drawings for homeowners to send to contractors for bid, or, if the designer and client are local, the designer can be hired on for work beyond the additional design concept to see the project through to completion.
E-Design is a fun, easy, and attainable way to get a professional design for your space, usually in a short timeframe. For more information or to start your own E-Design project, visit the Jones Sweet Homes E-Design page here!
