Four moves in five years. That is our reality. Four moves in five years means you’re a pro at packing, you’re probably nuts, and that you’ve mastered repurposing your home décor. I don’t like the heavy lifting, but once all the big stuff is in place, my wheels start turning about what goes where when it comes to our décor, and how I can repurpose, reuse, and make items we’ve had for years seem new and fresh. I love the creativity of this process, and I love the challenge. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite repurposed décor items that I used in my office at our new house.VIEW POST

Today I just had to share a quickie DIY that we did weekend before last because it’s just too good. We got a king size bed (*angels singing*) two weeks ago and what we had hanging on the wall over our old bed wasn’t working. Because every penny we have is going towards saving for the baby, the budget for this wall art project was essentially zero dollars. I think I ended up and spent $3.00. #BigSpender So here’s how we made this gorgeous faux tin panel wall art DIY on the cheap!
It occurred to me today that if we don’t get a move on this JSH Home Tour, we’ll never get through the rest of the Suburbialand house before we’re on to the Coastal Crafstman in less than a month! So today, to celebrate FriYAY, we’re going through the deets of our DIY Bathroom Renovation. I do not call this the “Master Bath” out of habit now, as one of our builders banned us from using the word “master” to describe bathrooms or bedrooms. If you think of the connotations, I get it. Just a little PC tip for you. So anywho, here’s the journey of our DIY bathroom renovation, from cabinet refacing, to countertops, to new tile, to trim work, to a new tub… and allllll the way to the beautiful finished product! Without further ado, our DIY bathroom renovation!VIEW POST
We are t-minus thirty days until the move and are working away on the list of to-dos for the new house – now affectionately named the “Coastal Craftsman.” As we work on this list I’m realizing that the alternate title for this post should be “And This is How Things Snowball.” Right now we are walking the line between sticking to our budget and “aw forget it, let’s just get it done before we move in.” So here is our list of priorities, as well as our list of would-really-like-to-haves, AND our desperate plea for a vote in our search for the perfect grey wood floor stain. Let’s get this reno party started people!
I started to say that I got really lazy when it came to our Halloween Décor this year, but what with the Cruise, Hurricane, my baby’s pneumonia, and selling our house and moving in the next month, I don’t think it’s so much laziness, as complete lack of time. Either way, I did manage to quite literally toss a few things out for Halloween. Since we’re saving every penny for the big move, I tried to stick to a frugal budget. I kinda love the stuff that I put out though. It’s not over the top, but it’s just enough to make it feel Halloweeny around here. It is possible to do cheap, easy Halloween décor… here’s the proof!VIEW POST
It’s official! After less than one month – including a week long pause for a hurricane – we are under contract on our Suburbialand house! Our contract price is guaranteed to make our neighbors blush… and possibly infuriate those on our street who’ve had their house on the market for six months or more. How did we have the patience and fortitude to do it, you ask….
Booze. Lots of booze. We continuously reminded ourselves of a few key factors and stuck to our guns to get top dollar. Want to know to sell your house fast and for the most moola? I’ll tell you.VIEW POST
Four mortgages in four years… First the 90’s beauty, then the 1947 Bungalow, then the Suburbialand house… are we idiots or what?! Every single time we start this process and go to prequalify for a mortgage, I have a small mental breakdown and wonder what in the hell we are doing. That has been my life for the last several days. Plus LC is sick (and me too a little bit) AND we’re getting ready to go on vacation for the first time without her… I am a nervous anxiety bomb and I wish someone would just shoot me with a tranquilizer dart. Since that is unlikely to happen – unless Lane has been sedative shopping – I thought I would give a little rundown of how to prequalify for a mortgage for those that have not done it eighty times in the last half decade, in hopes that it may help alleviate someone else’s stomach-wrenching home buying stress. I’m also sneaking in a teensy glimpse of the house that we have a contract on, just because I really can’t resist.
Happy Weekend people!! I sit here feeling gluttonous and gross because, you guessed it, I finally got my Taco Bell fix. Never in the history of my life have I eaten Taco Bell for lunch, but as we all know, there isn’t a cheesy core burrito to be found once I make it out to Suburbialand, so today I went for it.
I’m so excited for our next stop on the JSH Home Tour, our kitchen remodel! I’ll show you how it looked the very first time we saw it (ew), the behind the scenes of our demo and reno, and how it looks at this very moment. It is so gorgeous that I am almost inspired to cook in there!
Welcome to our Jones Sweet Home! There’s lots more to see, so be sure to come by for another visit really soon. Just don’t ring the doorbell. And bring wine.
